TAMA — Junior goalkeeper Lexi Breon was a wall in the net for Collins-Maxwell/ Baxter’s Raider girls Tuesday. Breon did not give up a goal to host South Tama’s Trojans.

The Raiders scored the only goal of the 2014 season opener 45 seconds into the second overtime period. Taylor Duloney had a breakaway for CMB and Bre Botterbrodt finished the run to the net, scoring the goal for the 1-0 win.

South Tama had 26 shots on goal to CMB’s 16. Raider head coach Gary Cummings pointed to the play of Breon in goal and freshman sweeper Emily Coughenour in helping the Raiders shut out the Trojans.

“For the first game out I thought they played pretty well, as always there is room for improvement. I’m real proud of the effort that they showed,” Cummings said.
