EDDYVILLE — Cassidy Van Veen posted a nine-hole total of 46, which was the lowest score of the day at the dual girls’ golf meet Tuesday. Cassidy Van Veen led a 1-2-3 finish for the Prairie City-Monroe Mustangs against host Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.

The Rockets won the dual, 219-226.

Cassidy Van Veen won by four strokes over her sister Kelsey Van Veen, who had a 50. Breanna Maher carded a 53 to tie for third place. Abby Van Haaften finished with a 77.

“It was a nice start to our season,” said Val Edwards, PCM girls’ golf coach. “We have lots of room for improvement, but they now have the first meet jitters out.”
