Connie D. Clark Altemeier

Connie D. (Clark) Altemeier, 66, of rural Newton died Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Skiff Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 10, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials in Connie’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Connie, the daughter of Richard and June (Clipperton) Clark, was born on Sept. 17, 1947, in Albia. She moved to Newton at a young age and graduated from Newton High School in 1965. Connie was united in marriage with Larry Altemeier on Nov. 21, 1964, in Newton and was a homemaker. Connie loved going to Knoxville to camp and watch sprint cars. She also liked to travel and read.

Connie is survived by her husband, Larry, of Newton; two daughters, Kellie Dodge (Steve Wertz) of Kellogg and Staci (Mike) Bird of Newton; son, Justin Altemeier (Kelli Aldrich) of Newton; her five grandchildren, Mikie (Lance) Hansen, Ethan Dodge, Jaci Reeves, Jaden Reeves and Sophia Bird, all of Newton; great-granddaughter, Kaylee Hansen; her three step-grandchildren, Shelby, Logan and Mollie Bird, all of Newton; and her father, Richard Clark of Newton. She was preceded in death by her mother, June Clark, and a sister, Cheryl Clark, in infancy.
