Lori Jo Lureman

Lori Jo Lureman, 56, of Newton died Friday, April 4, 2014, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 9 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Jasper County Animal Rescue League or the John Stoddard Cancer Center may be left at the funeral home or the church the morning of the service.

Lori, the daughter of Tom and Barbara (Wilkinson) Everist, was born on July 31, 1957, in Marengo. She grew up in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1975.  She attended Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa.

Lori was united in marriage with Glenn Lureman on Oct. 24, 1981, in Grinnell. They made their home in Newton. She worked for the telephone industry for many years, most recently as a sales order coordinator for Windstream. Lori loved her family, friends and her dogs. She enjoyed spending time at the lake, gardening and attending hockey games.

Those left to honor Lori’s memory are her husband, Glenn Lureman of Newton; daughter, Tandace Lureman of Dallas, Texas; step-mother, Sandy Everist of Lynnville; sister Sherry Bowers of Des Moines; step-brothers, Todd (Angie) Van Wyk of Lynnville and Troy Van Wyk of Lynnville; step-sister, Tara (Travis) Carrico of New Sharon; niece, Marcie (Chris) Hasty of Johnston; her mother-in-law, Glenis Lureman-Nunn of Urbandale; and the entire Lureman family. She was preceded in death by her parents.
