The Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge will host a free Winter Photo Hike from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. A ranger will introduce winter subjects on the prairie and then guide photographers to a few good photography spots. One location may be off-trail, so be prepared to fully experience the tallgrass prairie in winter. Amateur and professional photographers of all ages and skill levels are welcome. Attendees are advised to bring their own camera equipment, comfortable shoes/boots and a water bottle. Photographers also will have the opportunity to participate in an exhibit of their work in the refuge’s art gallery in April. Registration is encouraged. Sign up by contacting Megan Wandag at (515) 994-3400 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Participants should meet at the Prairie Learning and Visitor Center at 9 a.m. for a brief orientation.
