• Jerrica L. Sanders, 21, of Benton Harbor, Mich., was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon after authorities were dispatched at 10:10 p.m. Saturday to an apartment at 1501 N. 11th Ave. E. in reference to two females fighting. Authorities were told Sanders had displayed a knife and had purposely cut her hand. The victim stated she had a relationship with Sanders that had ended and that Sanders had driven from Michigan to confront her. The victim stated Sanders assaulted her and, at one point, grabbed a steak knife and said, “If I can’t have you, no one can.” The victim grabbed her son and ran from the apartment. Sanders was charged and released to appear in court.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
