Newton Police Department

• Natasha B. Anderson, 27, of Newton was charged with operating while intoxicated after authorities responded to a complaint at 2:50 a.m. Tuesday of a driver almost hitting a person and a mailbox. The vehicle was observed weaving in traffic and eventually was stopped in the 900 block of First Avenue West. Anderson appeared to be intoxicated but refused sobriety tests. She was charged and released to appear in court.

• Paul W. Cupples, 49, of Kellogg was charged with driving while license suspended after authorities stopped him at 12:09 p.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of North 11th Avenue East for speeding. He was charged for driving with a suspended license, given a warning for speeding and released to appear in court.

• Nicholas J. Rink, 28, of Newton was charged with driving while license suspended after authorities stopped him at 11:04 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of East Fourth Street South after receiving a complaint of Rink driving recklessly. He was charged for driving with a suspended license and released to appear in court.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
