Ruby Milligan

Ruby Milligan, 85, of Baxter passed away on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Visitation for Ruby will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the church with Pastor Rollin Watters officiating.

Ruby Lena Lois Milligan was born on Feb. 10, 1928, in Ava, Mo., to Louis and Leslie (Twitty) Porter. She attended North Burrow School. Ruby then married the love of her life Ira “Max” Milligan on Sept. 5, 1944, at Bethany United Church of Christ in Baxter, Iowa. The couple resided in the area all of their married life and raised their family there together. She had a great love for her family and enjoyed spending time with them, making for people and organizations all around the country, sewing, quilting, crocheting and reading.

Those left to cherish her loving memories are her husband of 69 years Max, of Baxter; her daughters Teresa (Fred) Schweinebart, of Baxter and Tammy (Dale Schmidt) Warnell, of Rural Newton; two grandchildren Josh (Ashley) Warnell, and Tracy (David) Catron; four great-grandchildren Lindsey, Danielle, Haley, and Chanse; a great-great-grandchild Rhyia; brother Gene (Betty) Porter; two sisters Doris (Bob) Barton, and Wilma Maness; and many nieces nephews and close friends.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jim Porter, and Delmer Porter; two sisters, Fern Irvin, and Vivian Pennington; and one great-grandson, Legend Warnell.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Fredregill Family Funeral Home in Baxter has been entrusted with the care of Ruby and her family.
