NHS students to participate in Iowa All-State Chorus

Newton Senior High School senior Liam Briggs (above left), son of Curtis Briggs and Marie Stack, and junior Makayla Nook (above center), daughter of Gaylyn and Tami Nook, have been chosen for the prestigious 67th Iowa All-State Chorus. NHS sophomore Kate Wyre (above right), daughter of Bill Wyre and Stacey Raines, has been chosen as alto sax second alternate for the All-State Band. Auditions for the 602 member choir and 281 band were held at six locations state-wide on Oct. 26. Approximately 17 percent of those in competition were selected. The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Hilton Coliseum at Iowa State University. Iowa Public Television will record the event for re-broadcast. Tickets are $18, all seats reserved, available at Ticketmaster and the ISU Athletics Ticket Office.
