Charlotte I. Ibbotson, the daughter of John and Mabel (Ginsler) Riley, was born March 30, 1929, in Columbus Junction. She attended high school at Columbus Junction. Charlotte lived most of her life in the Winfield area.
On July 2, 1948, Charlotte was united in marriage with Howard Virgil Ibbotson. Charlotte and Howard worked the farm together for many years. She devoted her life to her husband and family. In her spare time, Charlotte enjoyed reading and crocheting. Charlotte was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion Ladies Auxiliaries.
Charlotte died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at the Newton Health Care Center, under the care of Skiff Hospice. She was 84 years old. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard; her son, John H. Ibbotson on June 19, 2013; her daughter-in-law, Charlene Ibbotson on July 23, 2011; and her brothers, John and Jay Riley.
Those left to honor Charlotte’s memory include her sons, Bob (Jean) Ibbotson of Newton and Gary (Pam) Ibbotson of Mount Pleasant; her grandchildren, Mollie (Harsha) Phukan of Lansing, Mich., Mike Ibbotson of Baxter, Matt Ibbotson of Newton, John Ibbotson of Mount Union and Lee Ibbotson of Mount Pleasant.
