Mabel M. Sellers

Mabel M. Sellers, daughter of Eli M. and Ida Belle (George) Wood, was born May 3, 1910, on a farm near Reasnor and entered into rest peacefully at Nelson Manor Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at the age of 103, with her family at her side.

She was united in marriage to Harold M. Sellers in Newton on Aug. 19, 1928. Harold and Mabel farmed in the Marion County and Monroe area until they retired and moved to Monroe in 1971. Mabel was a member of the Monroe Presbyterian Church.

Mabel is survived by her two sons, Duane (Wilma) Sellers of Monroe and Jerry Sellers of Pella; three grandsons, Bill (Mary) Sellers of Monroe, Chris (Kim) Sellers of Brooklyn and Greg (Sherry) Sellers of Salt Lake City, Utah; five great-grandchildren, Marci (Sam) McIlrath of Laurel, Caleb Sellers of Kansas City, Mo., Cass Sellers of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Gabe and Sammi Sellers both of Des Moines; and two great-great-granddaughters Reagan and Rayne McIlrath of Laurel; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold; her parents Eli and Ida Wood; four brothers; four sisters; a daughter-in-law Mary Ellen Sellers; her grandson Nicholas D. “Nick” Sellers; and her great-grandson, Harold Uriah “Uri” Sellers.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at the Monroe Presbyterian Church with services following at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the Silent City Cemetery following services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Monroe Presbyterian Church in Mabel's name or to the charity of their choice.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
