This month Berg Middle School is focusing a lot on bullying. The anti-bullying campaign we have created is titled Berg Standing Against Bullying.
In this campaign we are focusing on raising awareness about bullying and trying to prevent it in our school and community. We have been making many efforts to help with this cause. Some of the things we are doing include, creating skits and plays to show to our school, making posters with encouraging messages, going to see the movie “Bully” at the Capitol II Theatre, submitting an anti-bullying video to the Iowa Governor’s Bullying Summit, getting 75 percent of our student body to sign an anti-bullying pledge, handing out pencils, sharing our campaign at the Skiff Halloween walkthrough, and much more! We are hoping that with our efforts people will become more aware of bullying.
People will be more willing to stand up to bullying, or will realize that they are being the bully. Bullying is a real problem and we believe people need to know about it. One out of every seven students K-12 grades are either a bully or a victim of bullying, and one out of every 10 drop out of school because of bullying. Bullying happens and one person can make a big difference.
