Van Wijk Winery in Sully will host an art show from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, featuring work by artist Svetlana Van Wyk and honoring her for her accomplishments.
Seventeen of Van Wyk’s pieces will be on display, and she will demonstrate her swirl painting techniques. Refreshments will be provided, and the public is encouraged to attend.
“I love people, and painting them allows me to study faces and see their beauty,” Van Wyk said.
A portrait of Van Wyk’s daughter, Anastasia, in “Daydream” won Best in Show at this year’s Iowa State Fair. She also was merited for her “Always & Forever — In Memorium” portrait of her grandparents.
“We are excited to set up this meet and greet to help everyone get to know Svetlana better. Once you can connect the artist’s personality with their work it just makes their story come alive.” Rebecca Van Wyk said.
“The Gift of Art” show will continue through March 2 and will include special guest artists from the surrounding areas. Most of the pieces on display will be available for purchase. There also will be drawings by each artist for lucky attendees to win a piece of their art (must be present to win).
