William ‘Bill’ Harold Wagoner II

William “Bill” Harold Wagoner II, son of William Harold and Frances (Wells) Wagoner I, was born in Newton, Iowa, on Feb. 27, 1938, and died at the Veteran’s Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, on Oct. 15, 2013, of pulmonary fibrosis. Per his instructions, his body has been donated to the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and no services are planned. A private family interment will be held at a later date at the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa. The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements.

Bill graduated from Newton Senior High with the class of 1956. He served his country in the U.S. Army from January of 1958 until April of 1961.

He enjoyed many years working on the Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, Calif., and later as manager of the Lake Berryessa Resort near Napa, Calif. He enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially hosting friends on his pontoon boat, fishing, camping, and his many trips to Mexico. Bill moved back to Iowa two years ago wanting to see the seasons change and to be near his family.  He enjoyed sitting on the porch watching thunderstorms and snow storms.

Those left to honor his memory are his son, Eric Wagoner of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Marti Hall of Puyallup, Wash.; his mother, Frances Norris; sister, Sharonn Buckman; and brother, Chuck (Shirleyanne) Wagoner, all of Newton; brother, Doug Wagoner of Vallejo, Calif.; sister, Jill Halvorson of San Jose, Calif.; his five grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends, including special friend (BFF), Libby White of Newton.   He was preceded in death by his father, William Harold Wagoner I.
