Keith K. McCuen

Keith Kyle McCuen, 76, of Colfax passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A celebration of life will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Prairie City Community Room. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted in Keith's name. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The son of Carm and Ruth (McDaniels) McCuen, Keith was born on Jan. 4, 1937, south of Prairie City. In July of 1956, he married Margie Kendall in Prairie City. Keith worked for D.O.T. for over thirty years. Keith enjoyed fixing things in his garage, mowing, planting his garden — especially potatoes. He also loved to pop popcorn and he grilled the best hamburgers. He really liked old AC tractors. But Keith’s greatest love was his family, especially his grand kids.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Margie; children, Kyle (Paula) McCuen of Montezuma, Kevin (Teresa) McCuen of Hartford, LuAnne (Don) Steenhoek of Reasnor, and Leona (Jeff) Lewis of Baxter; 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Larry McCuen of Missouri; a sister, Betty (Chuck) Kartchner also of Missouri and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, Kenneth, Dwaine and Harley Dale at birth.
