Bulldogs hammer Tigerhawks in Ogden

OGDEN — Colfax-Mingo’s football team suffered its third consecutive loss on Friday at the hands of the Ogden Bulldogs, 61-0.

Despite starting the year with two big wins, the Tigerhawks have sputtered on both ends of the ball in district play, with each of their three losses coming by more than 40 points. Both sides of the ball have been struggling, but it has been the defense finding it difficult to keep opposing teams out of the end zone. The Tigerhawks have given up 67, 61 and 61 points in their last three games, respectively.

Nate Smith was perhaps the most productive of the Tigerhawk players against the Bulldogs. He led the team with 41 receiving yards, while also making six tackles and recovering a fumble on the defensive end.

Sophomore quarterback Jared Myers picked up 81 yards on 10-for-21 throwing the football. He also ran the ball seven times for eight yards and recorded eight tackles from his defensive back position on defense.

Jake Lietz, a sophomore running back and linebacker, rushed the ball seven times for 27 yards and caught five passes for 16 more yards. He was also second on the team in tackles with 10, including a sack. Alan Wheeler led the Tigerhawks with 11 tackles, nine of them solo. Also chipping in on the defensive effort was Jake Buehrer with eight. Blake Summy and Colin Lourens had four tackles apiece. Marcus Tmolonovic, Cameron Warner and Michal Deal each had three tackles.

Senior Juan Gonzales had one rush for 25 yards, and he caught two passes for 12 more. Gonzales also recorded one solo tackle.
