Mustang girls go 1-4 at Nevada tournament

NEVADA — Prairie City-Monroe was able to win one of its five matches at Satuday’s Nevada Inviational.

The Mustangs lost 21-7, 23-12 to Iowa Falls-Alden. Lexi Kain and Katie Vande Wall each delivered three kills for PCM. Cassidy Van Veen had seven assists. Abbi Gilson led the team in digs with eight. Kenzie Clarke picked up six digs. Gilson and Megan Winegar were 5-for-5, serving with Winegar having three aces.

PCM dropped a 21-18, 23-21 decision to Carroll in pool play. Kain led with seven kills, and Gilson downed three. Van Veen had five assists. Clarke and Kayla Jennings each had three digs. Jennings was 6-for-6 serving with one ace. Vande Wall was 5-for-5 with an ace.

In a three-set match against Clarke, the Mustangs picked up their only win of the afternoon, 21-16, 24-26, 15-13. Kain delivered eight kills. Gilson had four. Van Veen contributed seven assists. Vos assisted on six winners. Kain led with four digs. Clarke picked up three. Winegar was 11-for-11 serving with two aces. Gilson served up two aces plus had four blocks at the net.

PCM lost a three-set match to Atlantic, 25-22, 21-25, 18-16, in consolation round action. Kain’s 11 kills were tops for the Mustangs, followed by Gilson with seven. Van Veen had nine assists, and Vos made eight assists. Vande Wall took advantage of her serving opportunities, going 14-for-14 with four aces. Vos was 12-for-13 serving. Gilson had two blocks. Vande Wall blocked one.

The Musttangs lost 25-15, 25-8 to Carlisle. Emma Williams was 5-for-5 serving with one ace, and Kain led in digs with six.

PCM hosts North Polk Tuesday night.
