IOWA CITY (AP) — An 18-year-old Iowa City man has been accused of cutting a hole in an attic wall so he could burglarize an adjoining home. The Iowa City Press-Citizen says Jerome Brooks Jr. is charged with felony theft and burglary.

Police say the victim said the items taken included savings bonds, electronics and some jewelry. Police say Brooks often visited the residence that adjoined the victim’s home and that he’d cut a hole in the drywall that separated the two attics.
