DAR Grinnell Chapter

The regular meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution Grinnell Chapter met at the Centre for Art & Artists in Newton on Sept. 14 with 22 members and three guest present.

The chaplain read the devotions. and the regent led the Ritual and Pledge of Allegiance and the vice regent led the Preamble. Secretary minutes were read, and the treasurer’s report was filed for audit. Registrar reported 55 members with four applications verified, two applications pending and two applications in process. 

Committee minutes were read on conservation and good citizen’s and sunshine report. Constitution Week displays and media coverage were discussed, and the Newton mayor had signed a proclamation. 

The group discussed having a hobo soup luncheon at the December meeting, and everyone to is to bring a can of soup to the October or November meeting. 

July flag retirement photos were passed around for viewing. Seven members choose to clean sculptures for the Centre of Arts & Artists.

The meeting closed with the benediction.
