PC middle school runners compete

OSKALOOSA — Pella Christian’s middle school cross country runners competed in their first meet of the season Tuesday in the Oskaloosa Invitational.

The boys’ team finished sixth with 145 points. Oskaloosa won the team title with 74 points just ahead of Newton with 76 points.

Nathan Van Meer led the Pella Christian boys, running the 1.6-mile course in 10 minutes, 11 seconds for seventh place. Lucas Bandstra was 16th at 10:42, followed by Noah Van Maanen in 32nd at 11:02, Martin Landazum in 52nd at 11:52, Michael Munoz in 67th at 12:30 and Sam Carmichael in 86th at 13:12.

Claire Millgan was the Pella Christian girls’ top runner for the day. She finished the race in 11:59 for 26th. Josie Te Grotenhuis was 53red in 12:58. Abby Te Grotenhuis ran the race in 15:24, and Hannah Dykstra finished it in 20:26. No places were available for those two runners.
