A celebration of life for Frederick F. “Fred” Wiklund, 78, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Liberty Evangelical Free Church, 684 198th Ave. in Pella. A private family burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Frederick F. Wiklund, the son of Fred and Sylvia Hobbs Wiklund, was born July 12, 1935, in Newton. He graduated from the Newton High School, class of 1953, as class president.  On June 13, 1953, Fred was united in marriage to Colleen Sparks at First Baptist Church in Newton. They lived in Newton 30 years and Otley 19 years. Building a home on Painted Rocks on Red Rock Lake gave him time to enjoy the birds and nature with each season. He enjoyed the peaceful life. Fred was a part owner of Bond Clothing Co. for many years. His church was an important part of his life, as well as being a soloist. He attended Liberty Evangelical Free Church in Pella, was a member of Knoxville Kiwanis and Senior Citizens, where he played many games of cribbage and pool. Fred loved spending time with his family and enjoyed sports, woodworking, music and old westerns, especially Bonanza and The Rifleman.

Fred, at 78 years of age, entered into the gates of Glory on Sept. 16, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Evelyn White.

Those left to honor the memory of Fred include his wife Colleen Sparks Wiklund of Otley; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Doug Kozisek of Council Bluffs, and Darcy and Curtis Kane of Otley; grandsons Derek Frederick Moore of Joplin, Mo., and Ian David and April Moore of Pella; great-grandchildren, Macie Rae Moore, Elijah Dayton Moore and Audrey Elizabeth Moore; nephew Jeffery White of Sacramento, Calif.; and niece Nancy Jo Franey of Cedar Rapids.
