Get out to vote in next Tuesday’s school board election

To the editor:

My purpose in writing is threefold.

First, Tuesday, Sept. 10, is school board election day. The Newton School Board has six candidates running for four seats. Thanks to all who are running.

Citizens, we have interested people running and we have a choice of four out of six. Please get out and vote. Let’s make it the biggest turnout ever for a school board election.

Secondly, please vote “yes” for the DMACC levies. These are not new taxes or tax increases. We have been paying them for many years and it is a minimal amount of money on your tax bill.

DMACC needs this money to keep their facilities in top notch shape. Rob Denson, President of DMACC, addressed the Newton Noon Kiwanis on Wednesday.

I wish everyone in town could have heard him. He was so informative about the college.

It is one of the best and most inexpensive community colleges in the state. They continue to add new courses of study. Vote “yes” Tuesday.

Thirdly, you need to know there will be only two polling places for this election. Why this hasn’t been made known I don’t know.

The polling places are the Union Hall and the Community Center (old Aldi’s).

You can vote at either one. The Auditor’s computers will keep track of when you vote so you cannot vote twice.

Please get out and vote on Tuesday. Show our candidates and DMACC that  we think they are important.
