Cub Scout registration underway

School Nights for Scouting aim to sign up 2,000 boys ages 7-10

Sign-ups are underway for the Mid-Iowa Council Boy Scouts.

Schools throughout the 27 counties in the Mid-Iowa Council have begun hosting School Night for Scouting, an opportunity for boys to learn about and join the Cub Scouts at their local elementary school. More than 190 sign-up nights are already set, so check with your child’s elementary school for the specific date and time of your School Night for Scouting.

Last year’s campaign had 1,700 kids sign up to join their local pack and the program aims to sign up more than 2,000 children through this year’s six-week School Night for Scouting program.

“We’re proud to carry on the more than 80 years of Cub Scouts traditions,” says Charles Vonderheid, director of field service for the Mid-Iowa Council. “Whether it’s learning new things in an environment that helps them succeed or building their own Pinewood Derby car, Cub Scouts have the time of their lives all while making new friends.”

The Cub Scouts are for boys in the first through fifth grades, or 7 to 10 years old. Membership costs just $15 to register for the year. For more information or to register online, contact the Mid-Iowa Council Boy Scouts at www.midiowacouncilbsa.org or call (515) 266-2135.
