Several sports events scheduled for this week have been affected by the extreme heat weather conditions.

Today’s cross country meet — the Gilbert High Invitational at Iowa State University in Ames — has been cancelled. Teams from Newton and Collins-Maxwell/Baxter were scheduled to compete in that meet.

On Friday, the freshman football game between Newton and Norwalk has been postponed until Monday. The Newton freshmen will travel to Norwalk for a 6 p.m. contest on Monday.

Newton’s junior varsity football team hosts Norwalk at 6 p.m. Monday at H.A. Lynn Stadium.
