DES MOINES (AP) — Authorities in Des Moines are investigating a fatal collision involving the drivers of a motorcycle and SUV.
Police say the crash happened Wednesday morning at the intersection of 9th Street and Hickman Road in Des Moines.
A motorcycle driven by 57-year-old Nicholas Otto, of Urbandale, was traveling eastbound on Hickman Road. An SUV driven by 51-year-old Katherine Bloch, of Polk City, turned in front of motorcycle.
Otto died from his injuries. Additional information about Bloch’s condition was not released.
Authorities say neither excessive speed nor chemical impairments appear to have been a factor in the crash. Sgt. Jason Halifax says in a news release that there are indications Bloch failed to yield while making a left turn, and charges are pending.
