• Treal R. Belt, 18, of Newton was cited for failure to have insurance after officers were dispatched at 11:12 p.m. Friday to East 12th Street North and North 10th Avenue East on report of an accident. Belt was backing out of a parking lot when his flip flop got stuck and he hit a car owned by Robin E. Clark. The accident caused $2,000 in damage to Clark’s car and $1,500 to Belt’s. No one was in Clark’s car at the time of the accident.
• Tanner B. Jansen, 22, of Newton was charged with fourth-degree theft after officers were dispatched at 6:53 p.m. Friday to Walmart on report of a theft. Jensen attempted to steal a TV valued at $447 and was stopped as he was running from the store by Walmart customers. He was placed in jail.
