• Douglas L. Krier, 56, of Newton was charged with disorderly conduct after officers were dispatched at 8:44 p.m. Aug. 7 to 101 E. 10th St. S. on report of a disorderly conduct complaint. The reporting party said that Krier was yelling profanity at him. He was placed in jail at 11:58 a.m. Wednesday after being located at 919 First Ave. E.

• Rose A. Lehrkamp, 32, of Newton was charged with driving with a suspended license after officers were dispatched at 4:09 p.m. Wednesday to the 1200 block of First Ave. E. on report of a hit and run accident. The driver of one of the vehicles was Lehrkamp. She was released to appear in court.  

• Ryan E. Dearinger, 41, of Newton was charged with fifth-degree theft after officers were dispatched at 9:29 p.m. Sunday to Walgreen’s on report of theft. Dearinger wanted to purchase a cell phone so employees handed him an unopened box. After wandering around the store, Dearinger gave the boxwhich was opened with the phone missing, back to the employees. The phone was valued at $96.62. He was released to appear in court.

• Melanie J. Mathes, 25, of Grinnell was cited for driving with a suspended license after officers performed a routine traffic stop at the 100 block of East 31st Street North on Aug. 6. She was released to appear in court.
