Newton Police Department

• Joseph R. Revell, 34, of Newton was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and was cited for having an open container after officers performed a traffic stop at 12:03 a.m. Friday at 400 First Ave. W. The passenger, Crystal D. Andrade, 33, of Newton was also cited for having an open container. Revell had a .10 BAC. They were both released to appear in court.

• Shaun M. Shaffer, 29, of Newton was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance after officers performed a routine traffic stop at 1:54 a.m. Sunday at 2200 First Ave. W. Shaffer failed field sobriety tests. Upon taking an inventory of his car, officers found a white powdery substance, later identified as cocaine. At the police station, Shaffer had a .181 BAC. He was placed in jail. Justin C. Burns, 28, of Newton was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after officers found a glass smoking pipe in the car.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office

• Jerry W. Cunningham, Jr., 32, of Iowa Falls was arrested on an active warrant at 6:30 p.m. Monday for failure to appear in court. Deputies transported Cunningham from Hardin County.

• Brandon L. Edwards, 19, of Des Moines was charged with driving while license revoked after officers initiated a traffic stop at 9:32 p.m. Sunday at Subway. He was taken to jail.
