Iowa State sets football season ticket record

AMES — Iowa State has set a school record for season football ticket sales, again.

The Cyclones have sold 40,600 tickets, which tops last fall’s record of 40,547.

It seems as though Iowa State football season ticket sales trend upwards in three-year cycles.

When Jamie Pollard was named Athletics Director prior to the 2005 campaign, it was the first of three consecutive years of growth in the ISU football season ticket base.

In Coach Paul Rhoads’ third season (2011), the season ticket total jumped more than 6,000 fans. The Cyclones followed that by surpassing 40,000 for the first time ever. Now, a new milestone has been reached in ‘13.

Iowa State’s football season ticket base has increased more than 20 percent during Rhoads’ era. The base has increased 81 percent since Pollard came to Ames.
