Dr. Ferguson was important part of Newton Clinic legacy

To the editor:

Our recent letter to the editor omitted a family physician who is very important to the Newton Clinic legacy: Dr. John Ferguson, who died in 1993. He would have been 95 this year.

He was a superb family doctor with a gentle demeanor that set a great example for all of us providers who have followed. He recruited me to come to Newton more than 30 years ago and introduced me to many of his patients at a yard party at his home.

One of the biggest compliments I have received as a physician here in Newton was, “You remind me of Dr. Ferguson.”

Dr. Paul Ruggle, M.D.
