Newton law firms combining practices

In a statement issued Wednesday afternoon, two Newton law firms with combined roots dating back to 1907 announced they would be merging, effective Sept. 30.

Bruce Nuzum and Hilary Mastio of Nuzum, Matthias, Campbell & Tyler PLLC will combine their practices with those of Denny Chalupa, Gilbert R. Caldwell III and Randy Caldwell of Caldwell & Brierly PLLC. The joint office will be called Caldwell, Brierly, Chalupa & Nuzum PLLC, and it will be located at 211 First Ave. W. in Newton.

Randy Caldwell said the combined firm will be “better suited to serve client legal needs” in the future. Client files and documents will move with their respective attorneys.

“We are excited about the combination of these two firms,” Randy Caldwell said. “Bruce is an excellent attorney with many years of experience in areas of estates, estate planning, trusts, real estate, agricultural law, corporations and litigation.  Hilary is an energetic younger attorney who has practiced more than ten years and who has experience in family law, criminal law, probate and litigation. Hilary is also fluent in Spanish.”
