‘Hunger Games’ Party

A “Hunger Games” Party for teens is planned for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Newton Public Library. No registration is needed. Come dressed as a Capital citizen or your favorite tribute. We will play some games of our own and have a trivia contest, great prizes and “Hunger Games” snacks. This program is for kids who have completed sixth through 12th grade.

Friday Free Movie

We will be showing “Treasure Buddies,” a kid’s movie, at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, in the library meeting room. Bring your own popcorn, and lemonade will be provided. The movie is rated G.

Coffee and Movie: Little Women

The library will be showing “Little Women” (1933 starring Katharine Hepburn) at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the library meeting room. Synopsis: With their father away fighting in the Civil War, Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy grow up with their mother in somewhat reduced circumstances. They are a close family who inevitably have their squabbles and tragedies. But the bond holds even when, later, men friends start to become a part of the household.
