Flag football, soccer registration open at the Newton YMCA

The Newton YMCA is now accepting registrations for youth sports beginning in September.

YMCA Youth Soccer, which is sponsored by Haven Vineyard Church, is open to boys and girls in pre-kindergarten through sixth grades. Games begin Sept. 21 for six consecutive weeks, with practice beginnings the week of Sept. 2.

Early registration for soccer is open until Aug. 8 and fees are $20 for Y members and $42 for non-members. Regular registration which is from Aug. 9-15 is $25 for Y members and $47 for non-members. The fee includes a team shirt. 

Registrations are also available for YMCA Youth Flag Football, sponsored by Fore Seasons Golf and Newton HyVee. Flag football is open to boys and girls ages second-sixth grades. Games begin Sept. 21 for six consecutive Saturdays at the practice field east of the high school.

Early registration for football is open until Aug. 8 and fees are $25 for Y members and $45 for non-members. Regular registration which is from Aug. 9-22 is $30 for Y members and $50 for non-members. The fee includes a team shirt and mouth guard.

The YMCA is hosting special registration nights for each sport. Soccer registration night is from 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, and flag football registration is from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1. Both events will be in the YMCA lobby, 1701 S. 8th Ave. E.
