FDA only protecting Big Pharma’s interests
To the editor:
Regarding the article on page 8A of the Thursday, July 25, issue of the Daily News (“FDA cracks down on illegal diabetes remedies”), no doubt there are scammers in this business as well as in others, but no deaths are associated with nutritional supplements for diabetes or any other ailments.
Under the new law pushed through Congress by a coalition of the FDA and the FTC, I could be arrested for “practicing medicine without a license” if I tell anyone to take the herbs I take for my diabetes. Likewise, a grocer could be arrested for the same by telling customers to take prunes for constipation.
