Clarence H. 'Clancy' Wright
Clancy Wright died suddenly at the Col. Robert L. Howard VA Home in Pell City, Ala. on July 12, 2013, at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Nancy, and his parents. He is survived by his daughters, Dana Wright of Chicao, Ill. and Deborah Stephens of Birmingham, Ala.; a brother, Harold (Betty) Wright; two sisters, Joanne (Larry) Thomason and Judy Rodgers; and a brother-in-law, James (Nita) Gass.
Born in Marshalltown on Oct. 25, 1925, Clancy served with the Army Engineers during WWII, including active duty in the European theater. Following 20 years employment with the Maytag Corporation in Newton, Clancy was appointed operations head for the newly formed German-European branch of Maytag Corp. in 1964. He and his family lived in Dusseldorf, Germany for several years.
Upon returning to Iowa, Clancy and family made their home in Davenport for 32 years, where Clancy retired in 1990 after serving 16 years as Executive VP and CFO for Bawden Bros. Following the death of his wife in 2003, Clancy moved to Birmingham, Ala.
