Backpacks donated to Newton schools

Newton Community School District received 500 filled backpacks through World Vision-School Tools thanks to the generosity of The Way Church in Newton and Third Reformed in Pella. Aurora Heights, Berg Elementary, Thomas Jefferson, Woodrow Wilson and Berg Middle School will each have 100 backpacks available at their respective building to distribute, upon request, on a first come first served basis for any returning student who could benefit from the donated backpack and supplies. While the items contained within the backpack may not exactly cover what is on your child's supply list, it will have many standard useful items including:  binder, notebook, folder, filler paper, pencil pouch, pens, pencils, pencil sharpener, eraser, ruler, crayons, glue stick, scissors and markers. If you are interested in and could benefit from receiving a free filled backpack for your child, please visit your school office any time starting July 29.
