Newton Village now raising funds for skilled care facility
To the editor:
As a born and raised Newtonian, I am proud of my town and community. My grandparents, parents and my entire family have lived, worked, volunteered and supported this wonderful community that we live in; it’s a great place to raise children and grandchildren.
We have lived through the times when the economy was a little more promising and have survived the times when companies left our community and our future seemed uncertain.
Although it has been a challenging journey, Newton has made great strides and should give themselves credit for the many achievements they have made. We have a lot of great people in this community, good businesses, fun events and a lot of integrity that has put us on the map. This brings me to my reason for writing this letter.
As a member of the Newton Village staff, I am happy to say that the ground work has started and the process to build a 24 bed (22 of them being private) skilled care facility is in it’s first stage. In addition, when completed, this new facility will create 24 new full-time jobs in our community.
This is a huge undertaking in this economy but the need for continued care of our aging population is great. The folks that may require these services could be your grandparents, your parents or friends and neighbors. These are people that have attended your church, sought out care from your clinics, purchased medications at your pharmacies, purchased cars and had them serviced at your dealerships and stations, invested their money in your bank or investment center and bought groceries at your stores.
We are in the process of fundraising for this new addition — please keep in mind that the people we will be honored to serve; will be your patrons that have helped our community thrive for many years.
I hope you will consider helping us take care of our seniors, provide jobs for economic growth and purchase goods locally putting dollars back into our community by making a contribution today. Newton Village is a Christ-centered, non-profit organization, and gifts are tax deductible. Thank you.
