PCM softball plays for 3A region title

Tonight’s title game is at 7 p.m.

The winner nabs a berth in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) Class 3A State Softball Tournament. The 3A state softball tournament is July 22-26 in Fort Dodge.

Kayla Jennings pitched a complete game for the Mustangs in Friday’s victory. She gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out two.

Abigail Gilson ripped out a home run and a double for PCM and drove in four runs. Even without a hit, Makenna Van Veen had two RBIs in the game.

Shelby Palm had single and a double while Kelsey Townsend hit two singles. Jennings, Molly Vignovich and Kaitlyn Wilkie had a single apiece.

PCM and North Polk were tied up 1-1 after one inning. The Mustangs broke it open with the six runs in the second. The Comets were able to score twice in the fourth but PCM outscored North Polk 2-1 in the fifth for the final margin.
