Iowa Jaycees to host first-ever charity golf outing in Newton

This weekend, the Foundation of Iowa Jaycee Charities will host its first-ever golf outing at Westwood Golf Course in Newton. Proceeds from the event will benefit Jaycee charities throughout the state.

“Over the years the Foundation for Iowa Jaycee Charities has positively impacted
the lives of people and communities throughout Iowa,” the organization’s president, Deb Puls, said. “In all, the Foundation has directly impacted Iowa communities with more than a quarter-million grant dollars.”

Examples of the Jaycees’ giving include:

* $36,000 to the communities of Center Point, Stratford, Eagle Grove, Stanley, Cedar Rapids, Remsen and Primghar;

* $9,300 to the North Liberty Family Resource Center to provide direct services,
counseling, parent seminars and tutoring; and

* $1,000 to the Iowa Association for the Education of Youth Children in Mason City.

“Iowa communities have benefited with assistance in upgrading Emergency Medical Service Facilities, community centers, parks, and baseball fields,” Foundation of Iowa Jaycee Charities Solicitation Chairman Dan Badger of Newton said. “Your support of the Foundation for Iowa Jaycee Charities Annual Golf Outing will ensure that the communities in Iowa continue to receive the necessary grant dollars needed.”

The golf outing will begin at 9 a.m. Friday with a shotgun start. A registration fee of $200 per team or $60 per individual covers golf, a meal and cart rental. The deadline to register is 5 p.m. today.
