Newton All Stars are undefeated in LL district play

League teams, play their home games at Newton’s Patterson Park.

Newton exploded for 11 runs in the fifth inning to wipe out a 4-3 deficit. Dallas Schelling, who is 8-for-8 in his last two games, highlighted the big inning with a three-run home run.

Ryan Bar connected for four singles in four at bats Monday night for Newton. Josh Miller had three hits. Bar pitched an inning for Newton and Miller was Newton’s closer on the mound, needing just nine pitches to retire Mahaska Midwest.

Newton All Stars opened district play last Friday with a 16-11 win over PCM at Monroe. They notched a 10-8 victory over Mahaska National in Eddyville on Saturday.

Newton is slated to host Pleasantville tonight at 6 p.m. in round four. Newton goes to Knoxville Wednesday and Grinnell on Thursday. Newton wraps up district play at home Friday against Mahaska American.

District play is the first round of playoffs for Little League teams working toward the Little League World Series.
