Jasper County man wins second $10,000 lottery prize

DES MOINES — A Jasper County man is definitely on a winning streak in one of the Iowa Lottery’s instant-scratch games.

Ronald Crady of Kellogg now has won two prizes of $10,000 in the “Cash Bonanza” game and four prizes of $1,000. He claimed his latest $10,000 prize July 1 at lottery headquarters in Des Moines.

“I don’t know if I’m lucky, but I sure feel lucky,” he said.

Crady, 70, purchased his latest winning ticket at Casey’s, 409 N. Front St. in Montezuma. He works in the kitchen at a grocery store in Grinnell and said he got a scratch ticket with his regular soda purchase.

“I scratched it off. I looked at it — $10,000 — I got out and done a little dance in the street, opened the back door (and) kissed my wife,” he said.

Cash Bonanza is a $10 scratch game. Players win a prize by matching any of “your numbers” to any of the “winning numbers” and win the prize shown for that number.

Since the lottery’s start in 1985, its players have won more than $3.1 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $1.4 billion for the state programs.
