Mildred L. Holdsworth, 83, of Newton died on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 24, at the St. Luke United Methodist Church, 501 E. 19th St. N. in Newton. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.
Memorials to the St. Luke United Methodist Church may be left at the funeral home or at the church on the afternoon of the service. Memorials also may be mailed to the funeral home; please add Attn: Holdsworth Family on the envelope.
Survivors include her children, Steve (Barb) Holdsworth of Marshalltown, Pamela (Paul) Driscoll of Newton and John (Cathy) Holdsworth of Monroe; 16 grandchildren, including four grandchildren she raised like her own children, Mike (Cindy) Behun of Newton, Lori (Dave) Fisher of Nashua, Robert (Deb) Behun of Centuria, Wis., and Jeremy Behun of Monroe; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Verlan (Dorothy) Hauenstein of Leighton, June (Harris) Van Esson of Tracy and Doris Stansberry of Oskaloosa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William R. Holdsworth in 1997; her daughter, Lora, in 1974; a brother, La Verne Hauenstein; and a sister, Marie Mason.
