Newton Municipal Band to perform

The Newton Municipal Band will present its second summer concert of the season at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Maytag Bowl in Maytag Park.

Newton Municipal Band Director Dan Stecker has chosen a variety of toe-tappers for the concert. Selections for the concert will be chosen from the following pieces: “In the Forest of the King,”  a suite of old French folk songs; “Proud Heritage Concert March;” “Salvation is Created;” “Waggery for Woodwinds;” “Rollo Takes a Walk;” “The Symphonic Beatles;” “West Highlands Sojourn;” “Instant Concert;” “Hosts of Freedom March;” “On a Hymnsong of Lowell Mason;” “United Nations March” and “Sonus Ventorum (Sound of the Winds).” 

The band is composed of musicians from throughout Jasper County. Master of ceremonies will be Fred Chabot.
