Be vigilant about your health to avoid problems

To the editor:

I want to thank Nicole Wiegand for the write-up for the all importance of my condition I have. The whole point was “there is hope,” but we have to stay on top of our own health.

Our best friend is our “doctor.” We have to ask questions and get yearly check-ups, and then we can’t be sure of that (as you know because I had a check-up three weeks before my own stroke and did all the right things).

I don’t believe in diets but in eating right. I believe in exercise, but walking can be as good as exercise. But look back at your family tree. I do believe that really holds the keys to your predisposed health.

That can help a lot of folks.

Get that blood test, take that blood pressure, push yourself away from the table and drink more water. Boy, I sound like I did when I was an instructor now.

It saved my life and taught me a lesson!
