C-M softball takes out Raiders

The Colfax-Mingo softball team improved its record to 9-3 on the season with a big Heart of Iowa conference victory over the Raiders of Collins-Maxwell/Baxter on Wednesday, 8-5.

Sidney Fahrney and Erin Earles each picked up two hits on the night. Fahrney and Jenna Teed led the team in RBI with two apiece.

“We hit the ball pretty well tonight and we scored runs in 4 of the 6 innings we batted,” C-M coach Bryan Poulter said. “Amy Russell had a tough go tonight. She struggled to get ahead in the counts and walked 8 batters. That is very uncharacteristic of her. She is a competitor, and our defense played well behind her.  This was a good win for us as we head to the Fort Dodge tournament this weekend.”
