Area Roundup: Hawks’ win streak at 13 games
The Hawks of Lynnville-Sully have been a force all season-long on the softball diamond, and Montezuma felt their wrath on Wednesday, losing both legs of a doubleheader by a combined score of 23-6.
In the first game, the Hawks put the Braves away in three short innings, 13-0. Lynnville-Sully scored seven big runs in the top of the first inning, effectively crushing the hopes of the Montezuma faithful. Three runs each in the second and third innings put the game away via the 12-run mercy rule.
Madison Rasmusson picked up yet another victory for the Hawks, pitching a perfect three innings and striking out five of the nine batters she faced. Rasmusson also went 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored, two stolen bases and a triple.
