Marvin ‘Babe’ Kumm

Marvin E. Kumm, 86, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Newton, died Friday, May 31, 2013, in Winter Park, Fla.

The son of Everett and Louise (Williby) Kumm, he was born May 9, 1927, in Newton, and graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1946.

He served in the Army in World War II and later graduated from Florida Southern University. He married Mary Craig in 1950, and they later moved to Denver, Colo. Following the death of Mary, he relocated to Orlando and met Sally Yerkes, who shared his love of tennis and with whom he spent 25 years traveling the world.  He retired from Cooper Tire Co. and later Comair Airlines.

Survivors include Sally and her family; his sons, Randal (Denise) and Jeffrey; two granddaughters; a sister, Helen Nuese of Newton; two sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; and two brothers, Hal and Don.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 22, in Orlando. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your church or favorite charity in his honor.
