St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church will host a “Neighborhood Fun Fair” Saturday afternoon, beginning at 2 p.m., in its parking lot.
The fun event will feature a bouncy house, slide, and dunk tank and will have snacks of sno-cones and popcorn. The Rev. John Thorpe, Rector of St. Stephen’s, plans to be involved in the festivities, as well.
“I’ve issued a ‘Dunk Your Rector’ challenge to the congregation,” he said, jokingly. “I think we’ll have a nice turnout for that.”
“We want this to be an annual event for St. Stephen’s neighborhood and the Newton community,” St. Stephens Outreach Committee member Sev Rodenberg said. “It’s like neighborhood block party. It’s a chance for us all to get together and have some fun.”
The Fun Fair is being combined with the monthly Saturday Supper event St. Stephen’s has been serving since early February. This month’s Saturday Supper, which will be served from 4 to 6:30 p.m., will be a free dinner with burgers and brats grilled and served in the church parking lot as part of the Fun Fair activities.
Other than a 25-cent charge for sno-cones and popcorn, all other activities will be free of charge. That includes the bouncy house, slide and dunk tank. Fun Fair activities will conclude at 6:30 p.m.
