She was released to appear in court.

• Hannah K. Smith, 21, of Newton was cited with failure to maintain control after traveling east at 2:12 p.m. Monday in the 1300 block of Iowa Speedway Drive, failing to slow in time for a vehicle ahead of her and driving into the ditch, hitting the other vehicle on the passenger side in the process. Smith’s vehicle sustained an estimated $1,000 damage, and the other vehicle, driven by Andrew Dannen, 58, of Newton, sustained an estimated $1,500 damage.
