Intro to social media and balloon animals at the library

Classes offered at the library

All classes will be from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and require registration. Classes being offered are How to set up an Email Account, Pinterest for Beginners, Create a Facebook Profile, Introduction to Microsoft Word and classes on the Library's Catalog and Databases. Mad Science

On Monday, June 17, join us in the library meeting room at 10 a.m. for our Mad Scientist Show.

Experiments include Earth Layer Cake, Metal Detector Discoveries and volcanoes! Registration is required for this program for children ages 5 and up, call the library at (641) 792-4108 to register!

Blank Park Zoo’s “Home Sweet Burrow”

On Tuesday at 9 a.m. or 10 a.m., join a zoo educator to learn about the different places animals call home. From burrows underground to nests high in the trees, this program will cover the different types of dwellings where animals live. Children will get to meet animals that all have a different idea of home!  The program will be held outside on the library lawn so bring a blanket to sit on. If it is raining, the program will be held in the library meeting room. Register for the 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. presentation. For ages 2 through 12.

Introduction to Social Media

Join us on Monday, June 17 at 6 p.m. in the meeting room of the library for a presentation about social media. Learn about Facebook, Twitter, and much more! Questions will be answered after the presentation.

JCARL Visit

The library and JCARL have partnered again to bring the animals to you! Stop by the library meeting room on Wednesday, June 19, from 1 to 5 p.m. to visit (and possible adopt) the animals, learn about volunteering or buy a T-shirt from JCARL.

Chick Flick & Lit: “Pride and Prejudice”

On Thursday, June 20, the library will be showing “Pride and Prejudice” in the meeting room of the library at 5:30 p.m. Synopsis: In class-conscious England near the close of the 18th century, the five Bennet sisters — Elizabeth, Jane, Lydia, Mary and Kitty — have been raised well aware of their mother’s fixation on finding them husbands and securing set futures.

When wealthy bachelor Mr. Bingley takes up residence in a nearby mansion, the Bennets are abuzz. Amongst the man’s sophisticated circle of London friends, surely there will be no shortage of suitors for the Bennet sisters.

Creations with a Twist

Join us Thursday, June 26 at 10:30 a.m. for a balloon sculpture storytelling stage show with the amazing Daniel Poe. This is a favorite of kids and parents every summer! The show is a combination of balloon art, stories and the acting abilities of the children in the audience!

Volunteers will step up to the stage, dress up in balloon costumes, and bring the stories to life for the rest of the audience!

You must preregister for this program, and it will be held in the library meeting room. For ages 3 and up!
